Sam Chelanga, representing the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program, took third in the men's open 10-kilometer race at the USATF Cross Country Championships, presented by Toyota, at Mission Bay Park in San Diego. Chelanga, 36, clocked 30:34 to produce his best finish at the event since placing fourth in 2017 in Bend, Ore.
