Bor holds off the chase pack to claim the open men's title at the 2023 USATF Cross Country Championships...what a gutsy race!
Scott Bush
By 9 km, Bor's lead shrunk to 9 seconds, with a chase pack of 8 men working together to close the gap
Scott Bush
Bor continued to grow his lead over the next 1000m, passing through 7 km 11 seconds ahead of the field, then 12 seconds ahead of the chase pack through 8 km.

Emmanuel Bor passed through the half way point in the lead, coming through 5 km in 14:23, a couple seconds ahead of the chase pack, that shrank down to 12 men.

A large pack is running together through 3k
Scott Bush
And the men's race is off and running...the depth in this race will be something to watch as the race progresses

Ednah Kurgat is your 2023 USATF Cross Country Championship open women's winner! What a final 2 km, simply dominating!
Scott Bush
Just before 8 km, Kurgat put in a massive surge in pace, breaking up the top pack and by 9 km she has a 12 second lead over the rest of the field
Scott Bush
At 7k, the pack of six women (Durgin, Kelati, Morley, Kurgat, Izzo, and Lapari have a 20 second lead over the rest of the field. With six spots on the line for Team USATF at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships next month, this seems to be your team...but there is still 3k to go!
Scott Bush
Passing through 5k (half way) in 16:12, Durgin and Kelati are pushing the pace, with four women now right behind. The lead pack continues to get smaller.
Scott Bush
Over the next loop (each is 2k long), Durgin and Kelati continue to push the pace with the lead pack now down to 10
Scott Bush
Through 2k, Emily Durgin and Weini Kelati lead the pack of about 12 women
Scott Bush
The women's open race is off and running on a nice day in Richmond, VA
